Silica Gel, the four-member Korean indie rock band composed of Kim Geonjae, Kim Chunchu, Kim Hanjoo, and Choi Woonghee, is back in the spotlight with their vibrant new release. On July 10, the band released their latest single ‘南宮FEFERE (Namgung FEFERE)’ through major online music platforms, drawing enthusiastic responses from fans.
The track stands out as a cross-border collaboration with Korean-American singer-songwriter Japanese Breakfast. Blending both artists’ unique styles, the song explores new soundscapes that mark an exciting turn in Silica Gel’s musical journey.
Music Video Set to Premiere July 17
Following the success of the single, Silica Gel plans to unveil the music video for ‘南宮FEFERE’ through their official YouTube channel on July 17. Fans are already buzzing about the upcoming video, intrigued by the band’s evolving sound and visual storytelling.
‘Syn.THE.Size X’: An Ambitious Solo Concert Set for August
Just a day after their single release, Silica Gel surprised fans by announcing their upcoming solo concert ‘Syn.THE.Size X’ via their official social media channels. Scheduled for August 30 and 31, the concert will be held at Hall 1 of KINTEX Exhibition Center I in Ilsan, just outside Seoul.
The concert’s title, ‘Syn.THE.Size,’ draws inspiration from the word “synthesize,” reflecting the band’s experimental and genre-blending performance style. Over the years, Silica Gel has staged various iterations of this concert: from their YouTube live show with So!YoON! and Y2k92 in 2020, to a collaborative performance at Nodeulseom with glowingdog and wave to earth’s Shin Dongkyu in 2022. In 2024, the band took to the renowned Jangchung Gymnasium to continue their boundary-pushing concert series.
From Global Festivals to Expanding Horizons
With just weeks left before their long-awaited solo concert, anticipation is building around what the band will showcase next. Known for their immersive performances and distinct stage presence, Silica Gel continues to captivate audiences at home and abroad.
Adding to their growing international reputation, the band is also set to perform at major global music festivals including Japan’s Fuji Rock Festival and Mongolia’s Playtime Festival. As they take their sound to wider audiences, Silica Gel is making an undeniable mark as one of Korea’s representative bands in the global indie music scene.
