Jo Yuri Returns with ‘Episode 25’—A Turning Point at 25

K-pop soloist Jo Yuri makes her long-awaited return with her third mini album 'Episode 25,' highlighting her personal and artistic transformation at 25. The album features five tracks across genres, including the pop-rock title track ‘Goodbye Now!’

Jo Yuri Returns with a Fresh Musical Chapter

K-pop solo artist Jo Yuri is back with a new story to tell. After a two-year hiatus from releasing new music, Jo Yuri has made her much-anticipated return with her third mini album, ‘Episode 25’, which dropped on June 14 at 6 p.m. KST across major streaming platforms.

‘Episode 25’: A Musical Turning Point

As the title suggests, Episode 25 reflects a new phase in the singer’s life and career. Speaking about the album, Yuri shared, “This is a transitional point for me as an artist and a person. I’m exploring new sides of myself, musically and emotionally.” The mini album captures emotional depth and creative experimentation, traits Yuri has gradually built since her debut.

Title Track Delivers Summer-Friendly Nostalgia

The lead single ‘Goodbye Now!’ blends rich band instrumentals with Jo Yuri’s dynamic vocal color, creating a nostalgic pop-rock anthem. “It’s a song about the calm end of a relationship,” she explained. “It sounded like summer the first time I heard it, and I aimed to deliver refreshing vocals that match the mood.”

The album also features four other tracks—‘Time of a Dog and Cat,’ ‘HICCUP,’ ‘Dive,’ and ‘Overkill’—showcasing Yuri’s broad genre range.

Creative Involvement from Start to Finish

Yuri didn’t just lend her voice—she also played a key role behind the scenes. “I was actively involved in the album’s concept, styling, and lyrics,” she said. “From the visual direction to the songwriting, I had my hands in every part. It was challenging, but incredibly fulfilling.”

She revealed that she even changed up her hairstyle to match her evolving image, embracing a bold bob cut for a fresh look.

Behind the Scenes of the Music Video

The music video for Goodbye Now! also reflects this new chapter. “It’s more dramatic than anything I’ve done before,” said Yuri. “We included a lot of visual storytelling elements, so I think fans will enjoy seeing this different side of me.”

Pre-Released Track Already a Fan Favorite

The double title track ‘Time of a Dog and Cat’ was revealed early during her fan concert and KCON Japan 2025. Yuri beamed when talking about the early release: “The song is so good that I couldn’t wait to share it with fans. Working with producer Groovl1n was an absolute thrill.”

Crossing Boundaries: Idol and Actress

Jo Yuri is also making waves in acting. Having recently appeared in the global hit Squid Game, she reflected on balancing the two careers. “Singing and acting are just different ways of expressing who I am,” she explained. “They’re not separate personas. I try not to force a split between ‘Singer Yuri’ and ‘Actress Yuri.’ I’m just doing what I love in both worlds.”

Turning 25: Growth, Challenges, and Gratitude

At 25, Yuri finds herself embracing change, including the not-so-glamorous parts. “Honestly, I noticed I get tired more easily,” she joked. But she also emphasized the personal growth that’s come with age, saying, “This year has been full of meaningful experiences—my first solo fan concert, new roles in music and drama. I’m really grateful.”

She hopes 2025 wraps up on the same high note it began with: full of happiness, surprises, and more music for her fans.

Message to Fans: “Thank You for Staying with Me”

In closing, Jo Yuri had a heartfelt message for her fans, known as GLASSY: “Thank you for always staying by my side. Because of you, I’m able to keep pushing forward. I’ve poured my heart into this album, and I hope you love it as much as I do. I promise to keep making good music and sharing my journey with you.”
