(G)I-DLE Makes Waves in Japan with Live Debut and Summer Sonic Stage

(G)I-DLE is stepping up its game in Japan, with a debut on NHK’s 'Venue101' and a jam-packed schedule including Summer Sonic 2025 and their first Japan arena tour.

(G)I-DLE Lands on NHK’s ‘Venue101’

On July 19, K-pop powerhouse (G)I-DLE is making their debut on NHK’s popular live music show Venue101, airing at 11 PM in Japan. Often dubbed the Japanese answer to MTV Unplugged, the program features performances from the country’s most influential acts—so consider this another major milestone unlocked for the group.

Performing ‘Good Thing’ and Talking Self-Production

During the appearance, the quintet—Miyeon, Minnie, Soyeon, Yuqi, and Shuhua—will perform their latest title track ‘Good Thing’ from their 8th mini album. But beyond the vocals and visuals, they’ll also open up about their creative process. Known as a “self-produced group,” all five members pitch in when it comes to lyrics and production—something fans admire as part of their authenticity and artistry.

Rising Momentum in Japan

It’s been a busy year for (G)I-DLE in Japan. Back in March, they headlined the ‘The Performance 2025’ global festival hosted by TV Asahi, drawing attention as standout K-pop representatives. They also surprised viewers with a guest appearance on TBS’s live breakfast variety show LOVE it!—their first Japanese daytime TV slot since debut.

Summer Sonic and Their First Arena Tour

Next up? SUMMER SONIC 2025. One of Japan’s biggest music festivals, it’s considered a badge of honor among international artists. The group will perform on the event’s main Marine Stage this August, proving their rising global pull. And October brings even more excitement—(G)I-DLE will kick off their first ever arena tour across Japan, bringing their shows straight to the fans.

Big in Japan—and Getting Bigger

(G)I-DLE isn’t just visiting Japan—they’re building a base. Between high-profile TV gigs, festival stages, and meaningful interaction with Japanese fans, the group’s momentum shows no signs of slowing down. In an already competitive J-pop scene, their unique color as K-pop’s DIY idols might just give them an edge.
