Modern-day real estate agent Yang Ling never expected his life to change overnight. After a celebratory dinner, he stumbles upon a ‘Script Kill’ game—only to wake up in the ancient kingdom of Daebong. With his alchemic knowledge, he navigates this unfamiliar world, gaining recognition and carving a path to success.
Set in the fantastical realm of Daebong, the drama portrays a world where Confucianism, Taoism, Buddhism, mystical beings, and martial arts coexist. At the heart of this universe is the protagonist, Heo Chilan, played by actor Wang Hecai. Born in 1998, Wang gained fame first as an idol before transitioning into acting, with notable roles in ‘Meteor Garden’ (China’s version) and ‘Love Between Fairy and Devil.’
Zhen Ximi, portraying Princess Im An, also plays a significant role. A graduate of the Shanghai Theater Academy, she debuted in the 2020s and has since emerged as a promising lead actress. Her character balances the drama’s tension with warmth, offering trust and affection toward Heo Chilan.
Adding intrigue to the story is the character Jeochemi, an investigator skilled in unraveling secrets. His appearance intensifies the mystery elements, incorporating classic wuxia and xianxia themes while adding a fresh perspective.
The world-building of Daebong also stands out, crafting an immersive experience where moral conflicts unfold. Phrases like ‘If you have done nothing shameful at night, you need not fear the daylight’ reflect the series’ central theme—justice versus evil.
‘The Great Eternal’ captivates with its fusion of modern time-slip themes and an ancient aesthetic. With its engaging storyline, well-rounded characters, and seasoned actors, anticipation is high among fans before its premiere.
