CBC News’ Netizen Awards Goes Global with Multilingual Broadcasting

Netizen Awards news from CBC News is set to be broadcast globally through gonewsi, a major international news platform. Available in 20 languages, the expansion aims to connect with global fans more effectively. With over 45.6 million cumulative votes, the awards continue to gain traction among K-pop and trot enthusiasts worldwide.

CBC News’ coverage of the Netizen Awards is making waves as it prepares for international broadcast through the global news platform gonewsi. This marks the first instance of a domestic award-related news feature being widely distributed worldwide.

The Netizen Awards will now reach international audiences in 12 languages, including English, French, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Thai, Turkish, and Vietnamese. As a result, global fans can conveniently access the latest updates in their native language, making it easier to stay informed about their favorite stars.

K-culture continues to captivate international audiences, with K-pop and K-dramas leading the wave. To keep up with this demand, the Netizen Awards has been expanding its global news distribution network to ensure its content reaches a wider audience.

Since its inception two years ago, the Netizen Awards has accumulated over 45.6 million votes, reflecting its increasing prominence among both local and international fans. On March 16, 2025, the official record stood at approximately 45.6 million votes, a testament to the passionate engagement of K-culture supporters worldwide.

An official from the Netizen Awards stated, “The number of global participants continues to grow, and users are joining from an increasing number of countries. To better cater to this international interest, we have partnered with gonewsi to enhance the global distribution of our news.”

Currently, popular K-pop groups such as BTS, NewJeans, SEVENTEEN, and BLACKPINK, along with trot stars like Hwang Young-woong, Park Ji-hyun, Jung Seo-joo, Bin Ye-seo, Song Ga-in, Enoch, Young Tak, Lim Young-woong, and Lee Chan-won, have been nominated, fueling intense fan voting competitions. Even legendary figures like Cho Yong-pil and Kim Wan-sun are part of the award race, further boosting excitement.

With this collaboration, Netizen Awards-related news will be more effectively delivered to audiences in the U.S., Japan, Europe, and Southeast Asia, bridging the gap between Korean entertainment and international fans.

Launched in March 2023, the Netizen Awards operates on a fair and transparent voting system, allowing each user up to six votes per day, with one vote available every four hours. This structure ensures a balanced and engaging competition, emphasizing fan participation in a meaningful way.
