Starship’s 'Debut’s Plan' Heats Up with Fierce Competition Among Trainees

Starship Entertainment’s highly-anticipated new boy group is making waves with their debut reality project, ‘Debut’s Plan.’ The show, which follows the group’s formation process, has already captivated global K-pop fans. In the latest episode released on March 21 via the ‘New Kids on the Starship’ YouTube channel, the competition among trainees intensified as they undertook the ‘Strength Position Evaluation.’

The evaluation showcased both vocal and dance performances, leading to the formation of ‘NewKids 7,’ a select group of top-tier contestants. However, those who didn’t make the cut expressed heightened determination, setting the stage for even fiercer rivalry in the next phase.

One standout moment featured the ‘Monster’ team, comprised of Korean, Chinese, and Japanese members, navigating language barriers to deliver a harmonious performance. Meanwhile, the ‘Magnetic’ team faced hardships, especially with main vocalist Lee Jun-seo struggling vocally during rehearsals, ultimately affecting their performance.

The ‘Debut’s Plan’ panel and trainers carefully evaluated the teams to select ‘NewKids 7.’ The winners included team MVPs Wu Hao, Jang Kyu-hyun, Chu Yoo-chan, Park Won-bin, and Suzuki Kaira, alongside standout members Kim Ji-yong and Jang Yong-hoon.

Rankings were also revealed, bringing both joy and disappointment among the trainees. Park Won-bin and Suzuki Kaira emerged as joint top scorers, while others vowed to improve in the upcoming ‘Weakness Position Evaluation.’ This next evaluation will allow contestants to overcome their shortcomings, with additional points awarded to the best-performing team.

In preparation, trainees chose their teams and tracks through a ball draw system. As rivalries heat up, intense emotions and unexpected conflicts arise, leading to a dramatic third episode set for release on March 28. Anticipation is also high for a surprise appearance by NCT’s Johnny, leaving fans wondering about his role in the competition.

With ‘Debut’s Plan’ aiming to refine raw talent into top-tier idols, viewers will play a crucial role in determining the final debut lineup through voting, which will take place until April 3 on the official website (newkids.co.kr). As excitement builds, fans eagerly await the next episode to see which trainees will rise to the top.
