Global K-pop star Jennie has clinched the No.1 spot on Mnet’s ‘M Countdown’ for the second consecutive week with her solo track ‘like JENNIE’, despite not appearing on the show. The song, featured on her first full-length solo album ‘Ruby’, showcases her unique style and confidence, a theme Jennie emphasized by saying, “I wanted to shine brightly without losing my individuality and color.”
In both lyrics and production, Jennie directly contributed to ‘like JENNIE’, which expresses the journey of embracing one’s path and realizing that no one else can fill your place. The track has also performed well internationally, ranking No.4 on Billboard’s Global (excl. U.S.) chart and No.7 on the Global 200 chart.
Her album ‘Ruby’ debuted at No.7 on the Billboard 200 and stayed on the chart for two consecutive weeks. In the U.K., it entered the Official Albums Chart Top 100 at No.3, setting a new record for a female K-pop soloist. Jennie is now the first K-pop artist this year to remain on the chart for two weeks in a row.
“I’m grateful to the fans for helping me achieve such great results,” Jennie expressed. “I’m happy I could share more with fans around the world.”
Looking ahead, Jennie is scheduled to perform at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in California on April 13 and 20. “The Coachella stage is always special to me. I’m preparing a lot, so please look forward to it,” she said.
From chart-topping music to major global festival stages, Jennie continues to redefine what it means to be a K-pop solo artist in the global spotlight.
