Choi Sunghoon Returns to Stage With Powerful Solo Performance
Choi Sunghoon, a member of the crossover vocal group LA POEM, successfully held his solo concert titled ‘Movement’ on March 29 at Lotte Concert Hall in Songpa-gu, Seoul. This marks his first solo concert in one year and ten months, reintroducing him as a compelling soloist while tracing his musical evolution.
A Journey From Tranquility to Power
The concert was themed ‘Finally, The Movement from calm lake to strong sea’, symbolizing a transformative musical journey. Opening with heartfelt renditions of ‘Largo’ and ‘Ave Maria’, Choi captivated the audience with the emotional depth of his countertenor voice. “It’s been a while since I’ve stood on stage, and I’m truly happy,” he told the crowd.
Visual and Vocal Brilliance
Split into two parts, the show not only offered a rich auditory experience but also a visual feast. Dressed in a white suit for the first act and a long black coat for the second, Choi presented contrasting moods that mirrored the emotional highs and lows of his setlist. Songs like ‘Moon River’, ‘Remember Me’, and ‘Music of the Night’ showcased his dynamic range and his unique identity as a classical crossover artist.
Encore Leaves Lasting Impression
For the encore, he performed moving renditions of ‘Naesarang Naegyeote’ (My Love by My Side), ‘Hymne à l’Amour’, and ‘What a Wonderful World’, leaving the audience in awe. “I put a lot of thought and preparation into this show over a long time. I’m grateful people enjoyed it,” Choi said through his agency. “I’ll continue moving forward as an evolving artist.”
