Korean actress Kim Go-eun has donated ₩50 million (approx. USD 36,000) to support relief efforts for victims of a 7.7-magnitude earthquake that recently struck Myanmar. Good Neighbors, a global humanitarian NGO, announced on June 2 that her donation will aid in emergency recovery operations, including food and daily essentials distribution, as well as psychosocial support for children affected by the disaster.

“My Heart Ached for the Victims” — Kim Shares Her Thoughts

“My heart ached when I heard about the people in Myanmar who suddenly lost their homes,” Kim said in a heartfelt message. “I sincerely hope this support brings comfort to those living through this tragedy.”

Jung-gon Kim, Secretary General of Good Neighbors, expressed gratitude, stating, “We deeply thank actress Kim Go-eun for delivering her warm heart to the children and residents in the earthquake-stricken area. We ask for continued public support so aid can swiftly reach those in need.”

A Star Who Gives Back—Kim Go-eun’s History of Philanthropy

Kim Go-eun is no stranger to charitable giving. In 2020, she contributed ₩100 million during the COVID-19 pandemic to support underprivileged families in Korea, becoming a member of Good Neighbors’ The Neighbors Honors Club—an exclusive group of donors who have given over ₩100 million.

Earlier this year, she also donated ₩30 million to support emergency relief efforts for the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria. Her track record of consistent philanthropy serves as an inspiration within the Korean entertainment industry and beyond.

Expanding Impact through Ongoing Campaigns

Good Neighbors is currently conducting a global campaign to raise funds for Myanmar’s earthquake survivors. Donations can be made through their official website and platforms like Kakao’s Gachi-gachi and Naver Happy Bean. Product sponsorships and corporate inquiries are handled via their direct line.

Kim Go-eun’s continued acts of kindness highlight how meaningful support extends beyond money—offering real hope and humanity to those facing hardship. As Hallyu stars elevate Korea’s presence on the global stage, Kim stands out not only for her on-screen talent but also for the compassion she extends worldwide.
