Newcomer Kim Sung-jung Captures Viewers with Vivid Expressions

Actor Kim Sung-jung is drawing attention for his compelling performance in the tvN K-drama ‘The Tale of Gyunwoo and Seonnyeo’, which aired on June 24. His expressive portrayal of emotions—from anger to confusion—added depth and tension to the storyline.

A Charismatic Appearance as the Rebellious Jin-woong

Kim appears as Jin-woong, a character with a rebellious streak who initially clashes with Park Seong-ah, played by Jo Yi-hyun. Forced into a school volunteer project because of her, Jin-woong expresses his discontent with a rough attitude, igniting dramatic tension from the start.

However, things take a supernatural twist. Seong-ah senses something ominous through the spirit of a dog named Boki, which reveals a lurking ghost attached to Jin-woong. Trying to protect him, Seong-ah becomes more involved in his life—even as Jin-woong, who can’t see the spirit, misinterprets her actions and confronts her with hostility.

A Blend of Supernatural Intrigue and Character Chemistry

Despite the initial tension, the dynamic shifts when Seong-ah faces Jin-woong’s aggression unflinchingly. Her fearless demeanor visibly overwhelms him, resulting in an unexpected comedic moment that delighted many viewers.

Kim Sung-jung impressively portrayed Jin-woong’s complex emotional transitions—from tough bravado to subtle openness. Viewers are now eagerly speculating on how the ghost-related mystery and his evolving relationship with Seong-ah will further unfold.

From Musical Debut to Rising Screen Actor

Kim debuted in 2021 through the musical ‘Hadestown’ and gained recognition in ‘Weak Hero Class 2’ as one of Geum Seong-je’s gang members, played by Lee Jun-young. With his latest appearance in The Tale of Gyunwoo and Seonnyeo, he’s quickly solidifying his standing in K-drama entertainment.

The drama airs every Monday and Tuesday at 8:50 PM KST on tvN.
