Another SEVENTEEN Member Heads to the Army
SEVENTEEN’s powerhouse performer Hoshi officially begins his mandatory military service today, September 16. He joins the ranks as an active-duty soldier in the South Korean army, fulfilling his national duty alongside bandmate Woozi, who enlisted just one day earlier.
Four Members in Uniform
With this, Hoshi becomes the fourth SEVENTEEN member to enlist following Jeonghan (September 2023), Wonwoo (April 2024), and Woozi (September 15). The group’s enlistments are rolling in—but the team isn’t losing its spirit.
A Fond Farewell with Fans
Back in July, Pledis Entertainment announced the upcoming enlistments of Hoshi and Woozi, noting that they would complete all scheduled promotions beforehand. These included the much-anticipated “HOSHI X WOOZI FAN CONCERT [WARNING]” and video fan sign events tied to their 5th full-length album “HAPPY BURSTDAY.”
While they’ll be absent from future live appearances, Pledis assured fans (aka CARATs) that pre-recorded content will continue to roll out during their service. In short—no complete silence, just signals from afar.
Unit Work Before the Pause
March saw the release of Hoshi and Woozi’s energetic first unit single “BEAM.” Their chemistry was on full display during the fan concert tour that wrapped up on August 24 at Gwangju Women’s University Universiade Gymnasium. The duo’s synergy gave fans a sweet goodbye before their enlistments.
SEVENTEEN Marches On
Even as members begin fulfilling their military duties, the rest of SEVENTEEN carries on. On September 13–14, the group kicked off their latest world tour “SEVENTEEN WORLD TOUR [NEW_]” in style at Incheon Asiad Main Stadium. Judging by their crowd size (and screams), Hallyu’s power is showing no signs of slowing.
Looking Ahead
With more members expected to enlist in the coming years, SEVENTEEN—known for operating as a tightly synchronized 13-member unit—will continue evolving through solo work, sub-units, and strategic timing. But if anyone can pull off staying strong through the military shuffle, it’s the group that practically redefined self-producing idols.
