Hoshi Begins His Service with a Buzzcut and a Big Heart

SEVENTEEN’s Hoshi officially began his mandatory military duty on September 16. True to K-pop fashion, he didn’t just leave quietly — he left with a bang (and a buzzcut). Ahead of his enlistment, he shared a touching Instagram update featuring fellow member The8 shaving his head and a photo of himself flashing a military salute… with style, of course.

“Don’t Be Sad, Just Wait for Me!”

On the fan platform Weverse, Hoshi expressed his feelings candidly. “They say it’s harder for those who stay behind. I promise to do well, so don’t be too sad,” he wrote. “This time will become a memory we’ll laugh about later. When I’m back on leave, I’ll show up as your coolest soldier.”

He also added a sweet note to SEVENTEEN’s fans, known as CARATs: “Thank you so much. I love you all. I’ll go and return safely! And make sure to show lots of love to my new release ‘TAKE A SHOT’ at 6 PM tonight.”

“TAKE A SHOT”: A Fiery Sendoff Anthem

Yes, you read that right — Hoshi dropped a solo track the same day he enlisted. ‘TAKE A SHOT’ is a high-energy blend of punchy rap, electric synths, and roaring guitar rhythms. It’s both intense and exhilarating, a soundscape that echoes Hoshi’s charisma and stage power.

SEVENTEEN Members Take Turns in Camouflage

Hoshi isn’t the only SEVENTEEN member recently enlisted. Woozi joined the army just a day earlier on September 15. Jeonghan was the first to go in September 2023, followed by Wonwoo this past April. It’s a domino effect for the group — and CARATs are both proud and emotional.

Before heading off, Hoshi and Woozi had one last hurrah with their joint fan concert ‘HOSHI X WOOZI FAN CONCERT [WARNING]’. Their final shows in Gwangju capped a tour that spanned both Korea and Japan.

SEVENTEEN’s World Tour Marches On

Even with enlistments underway, SEVENTEEN continues to prove their slogan: “Teamwork makes the dream work.” On September 13–14, they kicked off their new world tour ‘SEVENTEEN WORLD TOUR [NEW_]’ at Incheon’s Asiad Main Stadium. The group promises that more stages — and surprises — are coming soon.

Hoshi may be off duty as an idol for a while, but from buzzcut selfies to banger tracks, he’s leaving a mark that’ll last through the countdown to his return.
