Cho Byeongkyu and HB Entertainment Go Separate Ways
After years of collaboration, actor Cho Byeongkyu has officially ended his exclusive contract with HB Entertainment. The agency confirmed the news on the 16th, expressing gratitude and well wishes for the star’s future.
“We’re deeply thankful to Cho Byeongkyu for the trust and journey we shared. We also thank the fans for their unwavering support and hope they’ll continue to support him warmly,” the agency said in a statement.
Overcoming Bullying Allegations
This split follows the resolution of a controversy that once threatened to overshadow Cho’s career. Accusations of school bullying surfaced online from a forum user claiming to have attended elementary and middle school with him.
HB Entertainment stood by its artist, firmly denying the allegations and initiating legal action. Cho responded publicly, saying, “False claims and the back-and-forth left me disillusioned with the life I’ve lived for 26 years.”
Eventually, during a police investigation, the accuser admitted the posts were fabricated, clearing Cho’s name and putting the case to rest.
New Projects on the Horizon
Cho made his acting comeback in July 2023 with the second season of the popular tvN series The Uncanny Counter. No stranger to adversity, the actor is now booked for a lead role in the upcoming comedy-action film “Secret Gold Hunt”, set for release later this year.
The project marks a bold step as Cho explores the comic action genre—a shift fans have been eager to see. With his past controversies behind him and new opportunities ahead, he’s clearly ready to reset.
What’s Next for Cho Byeongkyu?
Although he’s left the comfort of his longtime agency, Cho Byeongkyu is stepping into a new chapter with hard-earned resilience. Will this career pivot bring new roles, new image, or maybe even global recognition?
Either way, the actor seems poised to turn the page—and maybe turn some heads while he’s at it.
