Jeong Dongwon and Kim Junsu Unite on ‘Table for 4’

K-pop singer Jeong Dongwon recently appeared on Channel A’s variety show Table for 4, showcasing his unusually close friendship with veteran singer and musical actor Kim Junsu. Despite the 21-year age difference, the two demonstrated a bond rooted in respect and shared passion for the stage.

From Advice to Inspiration

In the episode aired on May 5, Jeong Dongwon joined Kim Junsu, musical actor Son Junho, and SS501’s Kim Hyungjun as Junsu’s invited guests. Dongwon revealed that Junsu’s mentorship had significantly shaped his performance style, especially when taking the stage as his alter ego, JD1.

“You’re doing great. I hope you continue to break boundaries across trot, musicals, and pop,” Junsu encouraged during the show. In response, Dongwon expressed gratitude, saying, “Thanks to you, hyung, I started performing more musical numbers during my concerts.”

A Friendship That Began on Mr. Trot

The two first met on the hit audition program Mr. Trot, and their bond soon deepened. Jeong Dongwon recalled a particularly lonely time after moving from the countryside to Seoul and shared how Junsu provided comfort and companionship during his early days in the big city.

“Hyung took me swimming, to the sauna, and even shopping. I was touched by how genuinely he cared for me,” Dongwon reminisced with a smile. During the show, Dongwon also performed an imitation of Junsu’s hit song “Love Is Like a Snowflake,” drawing laughter and admiration from the cast.

Jeong Dongwon Continues to Rise

Aside from his appearances as JD1, Jeong Dongwon is carving out a multifaceted career as a ‘hexagonal artist’ — someone who excels in multiple fields. In March, he released his second full-length album The Gift from the Tall Tree and is currently on an active promotional cycle.

Fans can look forward to his upcoming nationwide concert tour titled Jeong Dongwon’s Story, with shows scheduled for Seongnam, Suwon, and Daejeon in May and June. Tickets are available via Interpark Ticket.

Friendship Transcends Generations

What makes this duo’s bond truly special is its sincerity and lack of pretense. Their relationship not only bridges a generational gap but enriches the K-pop scene with a rare glimpse of heartfelt unity and mentorship.

As viewers tune into Table for 4, they witness more than celebrity banter—they see a moving story of friendship that transcends fame and age, inspiring fans of all generations.
