Just Days Before Comeback, Amal Steps Back
K-pop rookie group KickFlip is gearing up for their big September comeback—but they’ll be doing it with one less member for now. On September 17, JYP Entertainment announced that Amal, the group’s Japanese member, will temporarily halt all activities due to mental health concerns.
JYP Says Health Comes First
In an official statement, JYP shared, “Amal has been experiencing psychological anxiety and, after undergoing counseling and medical evaluation, it was advised that he focus on rest and treatment.” The agency emphasized that the decision was made in agreement with Amal and the other KickFlip members, prioritizing his overall well-being.
“He will not be participating in any upcoming schedules starting today. We ask for fans’ understanding and support as he recovers, and we’ll provide updates on his return when appropriate,” the statement continued.
KickFlip’s Comeback Goes On
KickFlip debuted in January 2024 under JYP Entertainment as a seven-member boy group. Known for their sharp choreography and youthful style, they’ve steadily built a fanbase since their debut. The group is scheduled to drop their third mini album, ‘My First Flip,’ on September 22.
This release marks an important milestone for KickFlip, and while it’s bittersweet to move forward without Amal for now, fans are pouring out support with hashtags like #GetWellSoonAmal trending across socials.
Fans Send Love and Support
K-pop stans are no strangers to the pressures idols face, especially during high-stakes comeback periods. Many have praised both JYP and Amal for being transparent about mental health—something that’s still gaining momentum in the Korean entertainment world.
“I’m heartbroken he won’t be part of the comeback, but so proud he’s taking care of himself,” one fan commented on X (formerly Twitter). Another wrote, “Mental health IS health. Take all the time you need, Amal.”
What’s Next for Amal—and KickFlip?
It’s unclear when Amal will return to group activities, but JYP assured fans that his recovery is the priority. While KickFlip will promote their new album as a six-member unit for now, fans hope to see all seven reunited soon under better circumstances.
In the meantime, ‘My First Flip’ is shaping up to be a pivotal release, signaling both growth and resilience for one of K-pop’s most buzzworthy rookie teams.
