SEVENTEEN Earns Second Platinum Certification in Japan with ‘Super’

K-pop group SEVENTEEN earns their second Platinum certification in Japan with the hit song 'Super,' showcasing their global popularity and record-breaking sales.

SEVENTEEN Reaches New Milestone in Japan

[CBC News] K-pop sensation SEVENTEEN has added another impressive achievement to their global resume. The Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) recently certified their track ‘Super’ from the 10th mini album FML as Platinum after it surpassed 100 million cumulative streams.

Second Platinum in Japan

This marks SEVENTEEN’s second Platinum certification in Japan. Their first came in September last year with the fan-favorite track ‘Very NICE.’ RIAJ awards certifications based on accumulated streaming numbers: Gold for 50 million streams, Platinum for 100 million, and Diamond for a staggering 500 million plays.

‘Super’ Resonates Globally

‘Super’—which draws inspiration from the legendary Monkey King character to depict SEVENTEEN’s journey through growth and challenges—has struck a chord not only in Japan but worldwide. The song charted on the U.S. Billboard Global 200 for 12 consecutive weeks and has now surpassed 200 million streams on Spotify, reinforcing its long-lasting appeal.

Record-Breaking Album Sales

SEVENTEEN’s 10th mini album FML, which includes ‘Super,’ sold nearly 4 million copies on its first day and topped 6.2 million units within two months—setting a new record for the highest sales by a single album in K-pop history. These numbers highlight the group’s ever-growing influence not only within the K-pop industry but also in the global music market.

Continued Success with HAPPY BURSTDAY

The group’s latest full-length album HAPPY BURSTDAY has also made waves. It achieved 2.52 million units in first-week sales, making it the best-selling K-pop album of the year so far. Moreover, the album debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200—matching the group’s highest-ever placement—and remained on the chart for three consecutive weeks.

Global Popularity Still Rising

SEVENTEEN’s string of accomplishments both in Japan and internationally is a clear testament to their enduring popularity and global reach. With chart-topping records, explosive sales, and memorable performances, the future continues to look bright for the 13-member K-pop group.
