A Star on the Rise, Now in Crisis

Yoon Ji On, best known for his roles in K-dramas like Jirisan and Into the Ring, has issued a public apology after being caught in an alcohol-fueled incident that shocked both fans and the industry.

The Incident: Drunken Riding Gone Too Far

On September 16, Yoon, under the influence to the point of memory loss, reportedly got on a stranger’s parked motorcycle and rode it without permission. The incident has since been confirmed by police and Yoon himself. He posted a handwritten apology on social media the following day, admitting full responsibility.

“I was heavily intoxicated and rode someone else’s parked motorcycle. I sincerely apologize to everyone I disappointed,” Yoon wrote on Instagram.

Fallout: Fired From New K-Drama

As a result of the incident, Yoon has been dropped from Channel A’s upcoming drama I Got Pregnant (working title), a project he had already filmed more than half of. An official from the production team stated, “We’re aware of the situation and are figuring out how to move forward with the series.”

No Longer Under Agency Management

Adding another twist, Yoon’s former agency, Ieum Hashtag—home to stars like Jun Ji Hyun—confirmed they had already parted ways with the actor in July. “Our exclusive contract with Yoon Ji On ended on July 6. We have no further plans for renewal,” a representative commented.

From Acclaimed Actor to Cautionary Tale

Yoon debuted in 2013 and gradually built a reputation through supporting roles in dramas like Romance Is a Bonus Book, You Are My Spring, and Jirisan. Most recently, he starred in My Perfect Stranger, where he earned praise for his subtle, emotionally layered performances.

Now, with this scandal, Yoon joins an unfortunate list of Korean celebrities whose careers have been derailed by alcohol-related incidents—a sensitive issue in Korean society, where public figures are held to high moral standards.

What’s Next for Yoon Ji On?

In his apology, Yoon promised lifelong reflection and vowed to never repeat such behavior. “There’s no excuse. I’ll humbly accept whatever punishment comes,” he said.

Only time will tell if audiences—and the industry—are willing to give him a second chance.
