Military Duty Calls for Two Members
On June 17, fans of SEVENTEEN were hit with a wave of emotions as the group’s official X (formerly Twitter) account posted a heartwarming farewell to members Woozi and Hoshi. The post featured a group photo with the comment, “Come back healthy and safe!”
The moment wasn’t just a photo op. Over on the group’s official Instagram, a short video showed fellow members lovingly rubbing Woozi’s freshly-shaved head—a lighthearted K-pop tradition that marks the start of a member’s military enlistment. The caption? “Eat well and stay healthy.” Simple advice, but it hit fans right in the feels.
Back-to-Back Enlistments
Woozi enlisted on June 15, followed by Hoshi just a day later, on June 16. Both idols are now serving as active-duty soldiers in the South Korean army. For international fans unfamiliar with this, it’s standard practice for Korean men—including celebs—to serve approximately 18–21 months. Yes, that includes our favorite idols.
SEVENTEEN, known for their powerhouse performances and self-producing talents, will now continue promotions with the remaining members while fans count down the days until the duo returns.
Fans Get Sentimental (and a Little Teary-Eyed)
“It’s weird to think of Woozi without headphones or Hoshi not dancing 24/7,” one fan commented. “But they’ve always put the team first—even now.”
The enlistment may be bittersweet, but the SEVENTEEN fandom, Carats, are nothing if not loyal. Fan-made countdown accounts, support messages, and edited clips are already swarming timelines. Leave it to Carats to make every farewell into a celebration.
And don’t worry—there are sure to be nostalgic video clips, playful online mentions, and probably more head-touching traditions to come. This is K-pop, after all.
What’s Next for SEVENTEEN?
With two key members temporarily out, SEVENTEEN is expected to shift group activities and possibly bless us with unit promotions or solo work. As always, Pledis Entertainment hasn’t spilled all the tea yet, but fans can expect plenty of surprises.
Until then, we’ll keep Woozi and Hoshi in our hearts, playlists—and Twitter headers.
