Kim Chaewon’s Solo Debut Begins with a Whisper and a Confession

At the stroke of midnight on October 19, Kim Chaewon of LE SSERAFIM unveiled her very first solo OST, a Japanese cover of the classic Korean ballad “Confession.” It’s the main theme for the new Netflix original Anonymous Lovers, which premiered October 16 and is already on fans’ to-watch radar.

‘Confession’: A K-Classic with a Modern (and Japanese) Twist

The song “Confession” was originally released in 1999 by Park Hye-kyung—a nostalgic favorite among Korean romantics. Now, with fresh Japanese lyrics and an updated arrangement by acclaimed music director Dalpalan, the track has been reborn as a modern ballad that still captures the tender ache of first love.

“It’s a song that’s lived in people’s hearts for years. I wanted to sing it with honesty and softness,” said Kim Chaewon in a press release. Her clean, emotional vocals were teased in the show’s trailer and instantly became a talking point across social media.

Netflix Drama Stars Heavy-Hitters from Korea and Japan

Anonymous Lovers stars Japan’s Shun Oguri and Korea’s Han Hyojoo—two actors with serious credibility in their home markets. The romantic comedy explores youthful love across borders, making Chaewon’s delicate ballad the perfect emotional anchor.

The K-drama is also making waves at film festivals. It was officially invited to the 30th Busan International Film Festival, one of Asia’s biggest cinema events—further proof that this cross-cultural project is striking chords globally.

What’s Next for Chaewon and LE SSERAFIM?

While this solo stint has fans swooning, Kim Chaewon isn’t going solo for good. LE SSERAFIM just wrapped performances in Las Vegas and Mexico City and will hit the Tokyo Dome for the first time in November. Not to mention, the group’s comeback is just around the corner.

Their upcoming mini album “HOT” drops in October, produced by none other than HYBE founder Bang Si-hyuk himself. It marks their first new music in about seven months, and expectations are sky-high.

Final Thoughts

With this stunning solo debut, Kim Chaewon proves she’s more than just a group leader—she’s got the voice, poise, and emotional depth to carry a story all on her own. Will this lead to more solo projects? Fans can only hope. One thing’s for sure: in both drama and music, her confession came through loud and clear.
