Off to Serve: Yugyeom Says Goodbye to Fans
On September 29, GOT7’s Yugyeom shared a simple yet emotional farewell on Instagram. Along with a photo of himself in a buzz cut, saluting the camera in his new military look, the singer wrote, “I’ll be back. Thank you all. I love you.”
His message tugged at the hearts of Ahgase (GOT7’s fans), who flooded the comments with well-wishes like “Stay safe and come back healthy” and “We’ll be waiting for your return.”
One Last Live Before Duty Calls
Before entering the military, Yugyeom held a live broadcast to say his final goodbyes to fans. Adding to the bittersweet atmosphere, fellow GOT7 members JAY B and Youngjae showed up to see him off in person, proving once again that their bond runs deep—even in camo.
Yugyeom follows behind Jinyoung and JAY B as the third member of GOT7 to enlist. Prior to his departure, he penned a handwritten letter promising to take care of himself and return safely:
“I’ll do my duty for the country and come back healthy. Please eat well, stay safe, and be happy, Ahgase.”
A Star-Studded Military Squad
Yugyeom isn’t going it alone. He’s serving in the Army Music Corps, where he’ll be sharing military life with some pretty familiar faces: ASTRO’s Cha Eunwoo, iKON’s Donghyuk, THE BOYZ’s Sangyeon, NCT’s Jaehyun, and Kim Wooseok are all part of the same unit.
With a cast like that, it’s basically a K-pop dream team in uniform.
Counting Down the Comeback Clock
While Yugyeom begins his 18-month journey in the military, fans are already counting the days until he returns to the stage. If his heartfelt goodbye is any indication, he’s just as eager to come back and pick things up where he left off.
Until then, Ahgase will be holding down the fort—and probably rewatching live videos on loop.
