The Wait is Almost Over
Actor Kim Mingue, best known for his role in the K-drama Business Proposal, is finally wrapping up his mandatory military service. According to his agency, Companion Company, the 29-year-old actor will be officially discharged from the South Korean army on September 30.
One Year in Uniform
Kim enlisted on April 1, 2023, fulfilling his service with sincerity, and fans have been counting the days ever since. While many hoped to catch a glimpse of him at his discharge site, the agency has decided not to hold a public event, citing congestion and safety concerns due to the base’s nature.
“We deeply thank fans who have shown unwavering support. While we won’t be organizing a welcoming event, we’re grateful for all the love during his service,” the agency said in a statement.
From Scene-Stealer to Leading Man
Since his debut in the 2013 drama Monster, Kim Mingue has quietly built up an impressive resume. He’s appeared in a wide range of series like Signal, Because This Is My First Life, Queen: Love and War, and Snowdrop, earning praise for his emotional range and subtle delivery.
But it was 2022’s Business Proposal that truly put him on the Hallyu map. Playing the icy-cool yet softhearted secretary Cha Sung-hoon, Kim won over hearts globally—and probably sparked more than a few fanfics.
Next Chapter: Post-Military Glow Up?
Fresh from his enlistment, all eyes are on what’s next. His last major role before entering the military was a dual performance in The Heavenly Idol, where he hilariously juggled the roles of a mysterious high priest and an unlucky K-pop idol.
So what’s next—sageuk prince? Rom-com lead? Action hero? We’ll just have to wait and see. But one thing’s for sure: Kim Mingue is back, and one comeback might be his hottest role yet.
Welcome Back, Kim Mingue!
With fans already preparing digital banners and binge rewatching his highlights, it’s clear Kim’s return is highly anticipated. Ready to charm the small screen—or maybe even the big one—he’s stepping back into the spotlight and we’re here for it.
Any guess which K-drama he’ll conquer next?
