After 18 months of mandatory military service, K-drama star Song Kang was officially discharged on October 1. The actor enlisted on April 2, 2024, serving as an active-duty soldier in the army.
At the time of his enlistment, his agency NAMOO ACTORS shared a heartfelt message through his official fan community. “It’s finally time to go. I’ll be away for a while, but time will fly, and I hope we can meet again with gratitude and healthy minds,” he wrote. Song Kang also shared his personal goal for his service: to study new languages. “I don’t want to waste this year and a half,” he added.
Comeback Plans: All Eyes on ‘Four Hands’
Now that he’s back, industry insiders are buzzing about his possible return in a new drama titled ‘Four Hands’. The title refers to a piano technique where two people play on the same piano simultaneously—a hint at the intense chemistry and emotion the series is expected to bring.
According to reports, the drama follows aspiring musicians at an arts high school, diving into their stories of friendship, rivalry, and young love. Song Kang is currently reviewing an offer to play a genius pianist in the lead role. His agency confirmed, “It’s one of the projects we’re considering. Nothing’s final yet.”
