Meet KAJA: A New Name, A New Era
Say goodbye to KJRGL—hello, KAJA. The multicultural six-member boy group, born from a joint project between SM Entertainment Korea and Japan, is stepping into a bold new chapter under a brand-new name and identity.
Why ‘KAJA’?
Pronounced like “ka-jah,” the new name comes from the Korean word 가자, which means “Let’s go!” It’s not just catchy—it’s a rallying cry. According to the group, KAJA reflects their desire to grow together with fans and keep moving forward as one. It’s playful, punchy, and perfectly on-brand for a group ready to conquer new heights.
AKIRA Returns, Teamwork Reignites
KAJA is made up of three Japanese and three Korean members—including one with U.S. nationality—which gives them a unique global flair. After a hiatus, member AKIRA is officially back, making this relaunch even more meaningful. Their fresh start began with the August release of their single “TipToe” and builds up to their post-hiatus promotion kicking into gear from October.
The Visuals Are Giving ‘Next Level’
The new concept photos are a burst of energy—literally. Sporting a striking blue and yellow palette, the visuals capture all six members mid-leap, symbolizing momentum, youth, and a forward-drive that can’t be contained. The graphics shout vibrancy, and that’s exactly what KAJA wants to embody.
Behind the stunning visuals is creative director Taku Nakai of QUEEL DESIGN, with photographer Zenji Tanakamaru behind the lens. It’s the first time KAJA tapped this creative team, but clearly, it’s a match made in visual-harmony heaven.
What’s Next for KAJA?
The boys will hit the stage this October with appearances lined up across multiple events. After teasing the name change during their one-year anniversary fan event back in September, fans have been eagerly awaiting this reveal—and KAJA didn’t disappoint.
So buckle up, K-pop fans—KAJA is calling, and they’re not slowing down.
