‘EXTRA’ Teases a Darker, Unexpected Turn
K-pop soloist Jeon Somi is turning heads with her latest concept reveal. Her new digital single, titled ‘EXTRA’, is set to release on July 7, and it’s already generating curiosity with its striking visuals and intense mood.
Her label, The Black Label, dropped the first concept poster via their official social media on July 2. In the poster, Somi is seen lying limply on a stretcher, surrounded by a cheering crowd. While her look channels a pop star vibe, her empty expression and the sterile, spotlight-heavy scene hint at a theme of burnout or disillusionment. It’s a far cry from the vibrant, upbeat imagery of her past hits like ‘Dumb Dumb’ and ‘Fast Forward.’
A Glimpse of the Sound Ahead
Fans got an early taste of Somi’s new direction through the music video teaser, which unveiled a short but impactful snippet of the track. The soundscape feels dreamy, even melancholic—perhaps a sign of emotional depth not fully explored in her previous releases.
“The vibe is totally different and honestly kind of haunting. I can’t wait to hear the full version,” noted a fan on Twitter.
Expectations Running High
Somi isn’t navigating this new era alone. The Black Label—home to innovative acts such as monster rookie group ALLDAY PROJECT and producers behind K-pop OSTs like Netflix’s animated film ‘K-pop Demon Hunters’—is known for pushing artistic boundaries. With their backing, Somi’s comeback is expected to deliver both musically and visually.
Fan Time Incoming
Following ‘EXTRA’s’ release, Somi will connect with fans through her 2025 FAN MEETING [CHAOS], kicking off in Seoul on July 19 before heading to Tokyo and Osaka. The event promises heartfelt interactions and a deeper look at her artistic transformation.
Jeon Somi’s digital single ‘EXTRA’ will be available on major music platforms starting at 6 PM KST on July 7.
