Lee Gikwang Turns Heads at BIFAN with Drama ‘I Kill You’

[CBC News] Highlight member and rising actor Lee Gikwang lit up the red carpet at the 29th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFAN), stirring excitement for his latest project, I Kill You.

On July 3, Lee attended BIFAN’s opening night alongside the cast of I Kill You, a hard-boiled action drama in which he plays the lead role. Sharing the spotlight with fellow actors, Lee showcased his star power and screen-ready charm.

Directed by Yu Ha–the acclaimed filmmaker behind Marriage Is a Crazy Thing, Once Upon a Time in High School, and A Dirty CarnivalI Kill You marks his first venture into television drama. Before its official premiere, the drama will be screened in movie format on July 5, as part of BIFAN’s adrenaline-pumped “Adrenaline Ride” section.

Lee takes on the role of Ho-jung, an ambitious heir embroiled in fierce succession battles. In the recently released trailer on BIFAN’s official YouTube channel, his performance–marked by intense expressions and emotional volatility–offers a glimpse at the drama’s gripping tension.

Striking in both visuals and presence, Lee captivated audiences and photographers alike on the red carpet. His role in I Kill You not only marks a powerful transformation in his acting repertoire but also signals his crossover from the small screen to cinema this summer.

I Kill You is also set to be released on OTT platforms, aiming to reach wider audiences in the coming months.

Balancing careers as both an idol and actor, Lee Gikwang continues to expand his range. Last year, he received praise for his heartfelt performance as Baek Eun-ho in the tvN drama Marry My Husband, portraying a nostalgic and sincere first love.

Meanwhile, his group Highlight is also staying busy. From July 11 to 13, they will hold their solo concert “RIDE OR DIE” at the KSPO DOME in Seoul. The tour continues across Asia with stops in Taipei, Macau, Manila, Tokyo in August, followed by Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur in September.
