Woni Takes on Her First Variety Host Role
Woni of K-pop girl group RESCENE is stepping into the spotlight in a new way—this time, as a fixed cast member of a television program. The singer was recently cast in MBC’s late-night sports variety show ‘Welcome to Sports’, airing every Wednesday at 12:35 a.m.
From the Stage to the Stadium
In the special segment ‘Road to Field’, Woni will team up with rookie announcer Ko Kang-yong to visit live sports games, soaking in the electricity of the crowd and exploring Korea’s passionate fan culture. Expect Woni’s signature bright energy and candid commentary to shine through as she immerses herself in this new setting.
Bridging Entertainment and Athletics
‘Welcome to Sports’ is a program that covers diverse stories from the athletic world, but Woni’s ‘Road to Field’ segment goes beyond news. It’s a hands-on sports tour from the perspective of a ‘sports newbie’—playfully referred to in Korea as a “seurini”—that lets viewers savor the thrill of fandom and the joy of live games.
A Dream Gig for a Sports Fan
Woni shared through her agency, “I’m so happy to meet viewers through my first fixed variety program. I’ve always loved sports, so being a regular on a sports entertainment show is a huge honor. I’ll do my best to bring the heat of the stadium right to your screens, so please support me.”
Busy Days for RESCENE
Meanwhile, Woni’s group RESCENE recently dropped their second single, ‘Dearest’, and are actively promoting the title track ‘Deja Vu’.
