Cha Joo-young, known for her commanding presence in the drama ‘Wangyeong,’ transforms into an ethereal muse in her latest collaboration with fashion magazine ‘Elle Korea.’ Draped in Tory Burch’s elegant ensembles, the actress exudes a charming and mystical aura straight out of a storybook.
Post-‘Wangyeong,’ Cha reflects on the emotional weight of her role, admitting it was difficult to let go. ‘Even now, I get choked up thinking about it,’ she confesses. Playing a historically significant female figure was both daunting and deeply immersive. Speaking fondly of her character, she adds, ‘Just as Wangyeong told Lee Bang-won, “You’ve worked hard as king,” I want to say to Queen Wongyeong, “You’ve worked hard to live.”‘
Transitioning to the big screen, Cha gears up for her film debut in ‘Lobby,’ where she portrays Dami, the wife of a golf club CEO. Teasing her role, she hints, ‘The moment you sit in the theater, you’ll immediately feel who Dami is.’ Collaborating with director Ha Jung-woo was a thrilling experience, she shares, likening the film set to an enjoyable adventure. Witnessing senior actors in action provided invaluable learning moments for her.
Cha also reveals her admiration for women who carry themselves naturally, without needing to seek attention. ‘I admire those who quietly show their essence rather than being overly self-absorbed,’ she states.
As she continues her journey as an actress, Cha reaffirms her passion for the career she deliberately chose. ‘Despite some trial and error, I believe acting was the right choice for me,’ she says, acknowledging the fears that still linger. Looking ahead, she remains committed to investing time and thought into her craft.
