A New Chapter for Han Ji-eun

Han Ji-eun is stepping into the spotlight once again—this time in the Korean adaptation of the Hollywood hit The Intern. Her agency confirmed on June 4 that the actress has officially joined the cast, continuing her upward momentum in Korean cinema.

The Plot: A Stylish Twist on a Heartwarming Tale

Directed by Kim Do-yeon, the film reimagines the 2015 American movie The Intern—originally starring Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway—through a distinct Korean lens. The remake follows Sungwoo (played by Han So-hee), a high-powered CEO of a fashion company, who hires a silver-haired intern with decades of life experience, Ki-ho (played by Choi Min-sik). What starts as a quirky hire turns into a deeply human story about mentorship, growth, and generational connection.

Star Power Meets Emotional Storytelling

The film had already stirred buzz with the powerhouse pairing of Choi Min-sik and Han So-hee. Now, with Han Ji-eun stepping in—alongside a loaded cast including Kim Geum-sun, Kim Jun-han, Ryu Hye-young, Kim Yo-han, and Park Ye-ni—the ensemble is complete.

Director Kim Do-yeon is no stranger to emotional nuance. Known for the poignant social drama Kim Ji-young, Born 1982, she’s expected to bring the same sensitivity and depth to this feel-good remake.

From Workplace to Movie Set

While office dramas might be a dime a dozen, this version of The Intern promises more than corporate clichés. Instead, it’s set to mix fashion-forward aesthetics, unexpected friendships, and meaningful career reflections. Basically, it’s what you’d get if Suits met Start-Up—and maybe shared a coffee with your dad’s life wisdom.

What’s Next?

Filming for the movie has officially begun, and anticipation is already in the air. With this cast lineup and emotional pedigree, The Intern‘s Korean remake could be the feel-good movie fans didn’t know they needed in 2025.

Will it live up to the original’s charm, or perhaps even outshine it with a uniquely Korean emotional resonance? Time—and ticket sales—will tell.
