At a special talk during the Busan International Film Festival, actress Son Yejin didn’t hold back when asked about her iconic K-drama Crash Landing on You. The series that brought her and now-husband Hyunbin together is, according to her, a turning point in both her career and personal life.
The Scene That Stuck With Her
During the event held at Sohyang Theater in Busan’s Haeundae district, a fan asked which scene from Crash Landing on You remains most vivid in her memory. Son Yejin paused, smiled, and said, “Every moment was happiness.”
She jokingly added, “After giving birth, my memory isn’t what it used to be,” before suddenly recalling a key scene filmed in Switzerland—the early paraglider moment when Yoon Seri (Yejin’s character) meets Ri Jeong Hyuk (played by Hyunbin) for the first time. “We had to shoot the final scene up front, before the script was even done. That moment—his embrace, the scenery—I just can’t forget it.”

For Son Yejin, the show wasn’t just a hit—it was life-changing. “Crash Landing on You is my life project,” she said with a grin, earning chuckles and knowing nods from the audience. The drama not only broke viewership records but also led to one of Korean entertainment’s most fairy-tale romances. Cue the real wedding bells in 2022.

Son Yejin’s talk was part of the 30th Busan International Film Festival, running from September 17 to 26. This year’s edition features a whopping 328 films from 64 countries, solidifying Busan’s place as Asia’s cinephile hotspot.
