Cha Eun Woo Checks In from the Military—With a Handwritten Letter

Leave it to Cha Eun Woo to steal our hearts—even from basic training. On October 1st, in honor of Armed Forces Day in Korea, the ASTRO member and actor sent fans a sweet surprise: a heartfelt video message and a handwritten letter.

‘First Ride’—His Final Film Before Enlistment

Currently fulfilling his mandatory military service, Cha Eun Woo took time to reflect on his upcoming film “First Ride”, set to hit Korean theaters on October 29. It’s a buddy comedy about five longtime friends embarking on their very first overseas trip together. Eun Woo stars as Youngmin—the handsome, cool-headed one of the group (typecast? maybe just a bit).

He filmed the movie alongside Kang Ha Neul, Kim Young Kwang, Kang Young Seok, and Han Sun Hwa. Think Hangover meets Reply 1988, with a sprinkle of heart and chaos.

“I Hope You Revisit the Memories of Your Youth”

In his video message, Eun Woo talked about filming with his co-stars, calling it a meaningful experience. He specifically called out director Nam Dae Joon and his fellow castmates, expressing genuine affection for the entire team. “I hope you’ll revisit your youthful memories, scents, and passions,” he said. “Please enjoy First Ride in theaters and dive into those feelings.”

No Promotions? No Problem

Since he’s unable to join promo events due to his enlistment, Eun Woo also penned a personal letter. “First Ride is a project we poured a lot of effort and fun into during filming,” he wrote. “Even though I can’t be with you at the site, I send my wholehearted support from here.”

And honestly? We’re sending that love right back. Fans aren’t just excited to see Cha Eun Woo on the big screen one more time before he completes his service—they’re also touched by the sincerity behind the gesture.

One Last Ride Before Duty Calls

Fans are already buzzing to see their multitalented fave in a genre that’s light, funny, and full of nostalgic charm. And from the looks of it, First Ride might just be the perfect feel-good flick to kick off fall movie season.

So while Eun Woo continues his military rotation, his final film pre-enlistment is ready to ride high at the box office. Ready to hop in for the journey?
