CMDM Rocks Japan Debut with Sold-Out Show and Big Dreams

Rising K-pop boy group CMDM kicked off their first Japanese concert tour with a sold-out showcase and revealed plans for an encore show. Members shared their anime OST dreams and Tokyo Dome ambitions, all while charming fans with flawless Japanese.

CMDM’s Japan Tour Kicks Off with a Bang

K-pop rookie group CMDM ignited their Japan debut with CMDM Live In Japan 2025 – Together –, launching the tour on September 12 with a free showcase and press conference in Tokyo. The septet wasted no time connecting with Japanese fans, debuting their fresh single “Step with me” live for the first time in Japan.

“Step with me”: A Nostalgic K-pop Nostalgia Trip

The upbeat track, dropped in August, cleverly samples the iconic children’s game “Mugunghwa Flower Has Bloomed,” Korea’s version of Japan’s Daruma-san ga Koronda (think freeze tag, but with more suspense). Its catchy chorus and energetic dance have turned it into a TikTok favorite, sparking a #StepWithMe Challenge.

Since release, the song has made rounds on major Korean music shows like M Countdown and Inkigayo, signaling CMDM’s growing hold on the global Hallyu wave.

Commanding the Stage—Literally

True to their name, a nod to “commander,” CMDM took full control of the stage. Their showcase wasn’t just about performance—it came with playful Q&As on topics like hair color changes and MV filming tales in the Korean mountains. The group surprised fans by conducting nearly the entire event in Japanese. No subtitles needed.

More Shows, Bigger Dreams

Following a packed showcase, CMDM announced an encore performance: CMDM Live In Japan 2025 – First step –, a comeback party concert slated for November 2 at Bellesalle Roppongi in Tokyo.

“We’re thrilled to showcase our growth with a new stage,” said leader Hyunha. Fellow member Hiju added that he hopes to one day “sing an anime OST.” Byunghun shot even higher: “I want to stand in Tokyo Dome someday.” Go big or go home, right?
