Hwang Youngwoong Dominates July’s Netizen Awards with 5 Wins

With five major wins in the July Netizen Awards, Hwang Youngwoong proves he's more than just popular — he's a cultural phenomenon fueled by a passionate fanbase.

The People’s Champion Strikes Again

In the fiercely loyal world of Korean fandoms, one name continues to rise above the rest: Hwang Youngwoong. The breakout trot-pop sensation clinched the top spot in the 2025 July Netizen Awards, once again proving that his connection with fans runs deeper than just catchy tunes.

The coveted “Net Grand Prix” (넷그랑프리) title was added to his already crowded trophy shelf — marking his fifth major category win alongside Male Artist, Album of the Month, Fanbook Icon, and Commercial Model Star. He raked in 87,529 votes, or 29.0% of the total, outpacing his competitors by a wide margin.

Beyond Popularity: A Star Who Connects

Hwang’s dominance isn’t just about numbers. It’s about resonance. Whether he’s on stage belting out emotional ballads or engaging with fans online, his ability to connect is what sets him apart. It’s why each monthly win feels less like a coincidence and more like a cultural shift.

“He makes us feel seen,” said one longtime fan on social media. “It’s like he’s singing directly to you.”

Rising Challengers: Who’s On His Heels?

Coming in at No. 2 was Jung Seojoo, who earned 45,457 votes (15.1%). Known for her versatility across trot, variety shows, and culture segments, she’s carving out a unique position as the top-ranking female artist in the game right now. While there’s still a voting gap, she’s clearly earning momentum as a serious contender.

Trailing close behind were Park Jihyun with 23,496 votes (7.8%) and Son Taejin with 23,118 votes (7.7%). Park’s emotionally rich voice spans classic ballads and trot, while Son boasts a blend of musical and entertainment chops that has steadily grown his fanbase.

Unexpected Faces in the Top 10

The fifth and sixth spots went to MyJin (19,776 votes) and Kim Hyeyoon (18,389 votes), respectively. Kim, primarily known as an actress, made a surprise splash in a music-dominated poll, showcasing how fan love can transcend genres.

Rounding out the Top 10 were Bin Yeseo, Enoch, Jang Minho, and Riberante, with vote counts ranging from 8,000 to 16,000.

Fan Power in Action

Rankings 11th through 20th included familiar names from K-pop, K-drama, and even veteran music legends: Park Changgeun, Byun Wooseok, Jeong Dongwon, Lee Seyoung, Jung Somin, Fortena, Cho Yongpil, Hyeri, Jung Subin, and Park Jihoon.

More Than a Vote – It’s Devotion

The Netizen Awards continue to evolve as a reflection of fan sentiment, passion, and dedication. While Hwang Youngwoong is flying high today, challengers like Jung Seojoo are proving that the next big shift might be just a vote away.

In the words of one fan: “It’s not just about loving a star — it’s about supporting them through everything.” Whether Hwang’s streak continues or a new face rises, one thing’s clear: the fans run the show.
