Starship’s IDID Debuts With a Dream and a Plan

New boy group IDID makes their official debut under Starship Entertainment with the mini-album 'I did it.' Backed by words of wisdom from MONSTA X, CRAVITY, and IVE's Rei, the rookie group has their eyes on the Rookie of the Year award.

Who Is IDID?

Meet IDID, the latest boy group from Starship Entertainment—the same label that gave us power acts like MONSTA X, IVE, and CRAVITY. The seven-member team just dropped their first EP, I did it., and they’ve made it clear: they’re not here just to make noise—they’re here to win Rookie of the Year.

Debut Goals and Big Dreams

On June 15, the group officially debuted at the YES24 Live Hall in Seoul, packing the venue with excitement and new fan chants. IDID is part of Starship’s ambitious “Debut’s Plan” project, a large-scale initiative aimed at cultivating next-gen K-pop leaders. Their niche? Think high-end freshness—cool yet youthful energy.

“We’re honored to follow in the footsteps of our amazing seniors,” said member Jang Yeonghoon. “We want to become artists worthy of sharing festival stages with them one day.”

Advice From Their Star Seniors

Debuting in the Starship family means you’re in pretty good company—and IDID has been gathering advice like Pokémon.

  • MONSTA X told them at KCON LA to “always do your best.”
  • CRAVITY told them “don’t be afraid—just go for it on stage.”
  • IVE’s Rei even shared gesture and stage etiquette tips in person, showing her sunbae (senior) spirit.

“Our seniors always support us with smiles whenever we meet, and that means so much,” said Park Wonbin.

Rising From Challenges

Of course, no K-drama-worthy debut is complete without some bumps in the road. Originally an eight-member group, IDID moves forward as seven after member Park Junhwan stepped down due to personal controversy. Still, they’re focused on the future—and on proving that they’re more than ready for the big leagues.

The Album: ‘I did it.’

The debut EP features eight tracks, including the bold title song “Shining On Our Own” (original Japanese title translated). It’s a Genre-blurring anthem packed with swagger, dance-worthy beats, and the group’s signature cool energy.

Kim Minjae, who ranked first in Starship’s trainee program, shared, “Winning first place wasn’t just a dream—it was something I fought for. Now I want to repay everyone’s support a hundred, a thousand times over.”

Before the official drop, IDID teased fans with “STEP IT UP”—a pre-release that had already hinted, yup, this group’s got bite.

What’s Next for IDID?

If everything goes as planned, IDID might just turn rookie buzz into long-term stardom. With powerhouse backing, real-stage training, and a string of heartfelt fan interactions already under their belt, they’re positioned to ride the next wave of Hallyu domination.

Think they’ve got what it takes to live up to their name? Spoiler: they already did it.
