The Newcomers Light Up Music Shows
Starship Entertainment’s rookie boy group IDID is already making waves—before they’ve even officially debuted. Formed through the mega-project Debut’s Plan, the seven-member team wrapped up their pre-debut promotions with a bang across all of Korea’s main music shows.
On July 24, IDID dropped “STEP IT UP,” a swagger-filled digital single from their upcoming mini album I did it.. From Mnet’s M Countdown to KBS2’s Music Bank, MBC’s Show! Music Core, and the summer special Inkigayo on SBS, the boys didn’t miss a beat.
“Fresh But Fierce” — Members Shine On and Off Stage
Before taking the stage, the group showed charm in interviews—demonstrating their signature “ice-cool but powerful” image. They also introduced unique nicknames on Music Bank that doubled as instant fan-bait: Jang Yonghoon is the “charismatic foodie leader,” Kim Minjae the “top puppy,” and Park Seonghyeon a “hip-hop cat.” Cute chaos? Absolutely.
Beyond performing, the members also co-hosted segments like seasoned show hosts, hinting at future MC potential. Talk about multi-talented rookies.
Global Appeal from the Get-Go
At Inkigayo Summer, IDID got the full star treatment—walking the blue carpet and even doing a lunar-themed runway walk in cosmic outfits. They greeted fans in English, Chinese, and Japanese, showcasing their global-minded attitude right out of the gate.
When asked spontaneous questions by the MC, the group remained cool and witty, looking far more polished than your average rookie group. Their signature zero-gravity pose? A fun nod to their space concept and a future staple for fan cameras everywhere.
STEP IT UP Packs a Punch
Don’t let their soft visuals fool you. On stage, “STEP IT UP” was a full-force performance: tight choreography, clean vocals, and that addictive chorus hook—“Step it up”—that repeats like a mantra. Oh, and the finger-snap move in the chorus? Viral material incoming.
As the final pose turned to warm smiles, the audience was smitten. One fan tweeted, “They had me at the finger snap, but the ending fairy moment sealed it.”
Next Stop: Official Debut
IDID will officially debut on September 15 with the release of their mini album I did it. Their first showcase will take place at Yes24 Live Hall in Seoul’s Gwangjin District, and expectations are sky-high.
They’ve already converted casual viewers into hardcore stans—who knows what they’ll pull off when their debut era officially begins?
