ILLIT Heads to Japan’s Variety Show Scene
Fresh off their Japan debut, ILLIT is already making waves overseas. The rookie girl group is set to appear on the popular Japanese variety show ‘Kintore’ (short for ‘King’s Training’), airing on October 18 at 1:30 PM JST. They’ll join forces with J-pop royalty King & Prince and comedians like Gekidan Hitori and Hiroya Yamazaki from Untouchable.
Quizzes, Games, and Korean Pop Culture
In the show’s preview, ILLIT competes in the “Shin-Okubo Quiz”—a nod to Tokyo’s Koreatown, known for K-pop merch shops and Korean cuisine. They also take on a game inspired by the classic “Achi Muite Hoi”—a quick reflex challenge that’s a bit like rock-paper-scissors but with directional pointing. Expect laugh-out-loud moments and chaotic fun.
ILLIT’s Busy (and Glittery) Japan Schedule
ILLIT officially debuted in Japan on October 1, and they’re not slowing down. They performed a high-energy 40-minute set at the ‘ROCK IN JAPAN FESTIVAL 2025’ in Chiba’s Soga Sports Park. Not to mention, they made their first appearance at the 41st Mynavi Tokyo Girls Collection 2025 A/W at the Saitama Super Arena—a major fashion and music festival.
What’s Next for ILLIT?
Back on home turf, the girls are gearing up for their encore fan concert ‘GLITTER DAY’ in Seoul’s Olympic Park on November 8 and 9.
Then, in December, they’ll return to Japan to perform at the 2025 Music Bank Global Festival at the National Stadium. That’s one serious rookie run.
From Rising Stars to Global Idols?
ILLIT’s whirlwind Japanese promotions show they’re not just Korea’s next big thing—they’re aiming for global stardom. With playful variety moments and major stage appearances under their belt, it’s safe to say: their “glitter” is catching on fast.
