J-pop meets K-pop: Seoul gets a J-pop spotlight
MelOn is turning up the cross-cultural music vibes. Its fan-exclusive concert series, ‘The Moment: Live on MelOn’, is bringing five buzzworthy J-pop artists to the heart of Seoul this November 8. Expect an eclectic showcase of voices and vibes from Leina, 7co, Wez Atlas, idom, and Shioreira (汐れいら).
Meet the artists about to light up Seoul
Leina is no stranger to Korean fans. Born in 2005, the soulful singer-songwriter sold out her first Korean concert back in January—and she’s only just getting started. Known for moody tracks like “Utatane” and “Doudemo Ii Hanashi ga Shitai”, she’s carved out a solid fan base not just for her angelic tone, but also her lyrical sensitivity.
7co is a genre-blending project duo made up of singer-songwriter Nanako Ashida and producer RYUJA. Think cool R&B grooves, a hip-hop twist, and poetic lyricism. Their sound walks the line between emotional and ultra-modern, which tracks with their growing clout in both music circles and streaming charts.
Shioreira, the vocal powerhouse known for “Sentimental Kiss” (fans of reality dating show “He & the Wolf” will know it), is stepping up her game. With her song “Hare no Hi ni” featured as the ending theme for the anime “Kaoru Hana wa Rin to Saku,” she’s surging in both popularity and pop culture relevance.
Wez Atlas, a rapper with Japanese-American roots and Tokyo-based swag, broke big with his 2023 single “RUN”—which hit No. 1 on iTunes Japan’s hip-hop chart. His bilingual bars and international appeal make him one to watch beyond borders.
Idom isn’t just a musician—he’s a creative Swiss Army knife. In just a year, he’s gone from indie debut to scoring commercial projects for TikTok and Sony. Whether it’s visuals, rap, or vocals, this “multi-creator” is Gen Z personified.
Ticketing battles: Here’s how to score your seat
Presales kick off September 25 at 8 p.m. KST for MelOn GOLD members (and up) via MelOn Ticket. General ticketing opens October 1 at 2 p.m. Korean time. If you’re a VIP MelOn member, you can even get 50% off—limited to four tickets per person. Better set a reminder, because this lineup is stacked.
MelOn’s November festival: Bringing fans and artists closer
This J-pop showcase is part of a larger MelOn event series happening at the Chungmu Art Center Grand Theater from late October through early November. Expect performances from A-listers like EXO’s Suho, SHINee’s Key, and vocalists from groups like BTOB, Daybreak, and 10CM.
Fan meet-and-greets will also be on offer through the MelOn app, giving 1,000 lucky fans a chance to hang out with their idols—including Woodz (Cho Seungyoun), Changsub, and more.
Global fandom in full force
It’s rare to see this level of J-pop presence in the K-pop capital. As Seoul continues to embrace global pop waves, events like these prove that fan passion knows no borders. Whether you’re vibing to Tokyo beats or Seoul bangers, this November’s lineup is serving serious genre fusion.
