K-pop Rookie UNIS Collaborates with Japan’s noa in Global Project

Rising K-pop girl group UNIS is collaborating with Japanese pop sensation noa on a cross-cultural digital single, 'Shaking My Head,' set to release on July 9.

UNIS and noa Team Up for ‘Shaking My Head’

Rising K-pop girl group UNIS—comprised of Jin Hyeonju, Nana, Jellydankha, Kotoko, Bang Yoonha, Elisia, Oh Yoona, and Im Seowon—is teaming up with Japanese pop star noa for a digital single titled ‘Shaking My Head’, set to drop on July 9.

A Collaboration Months in the Making

The partnership traces back to March, when UNIS posted a photo with noa, sparking curiosity among global fans. While no official collaboration was announced at the time, the picture alone fueled excitement about a potential K-pop meets J-pop project.

From Covers to Creative Chemistry

UNIS has long shown admiration for noa’s work, covering her signature track ‘Any Angle’ across platforms like TikTok and YouTube as part of their ‘W.W.C (World Wide Cover)’ series with 1theK. These covers laid the groundwork for musical synergy that would transcend national borders.

What to Expect from ‘Shaking My Head’

Described as a “Girl’s Date”-themed track, the song captures the playful energy that emerges when different languages and styles collide. Impressively, noa took full creative control—writing, composing, producing, and even directing the project.

Featured vocals on the track come from noa herself, alongside UNIS members Jellydankha, Kotoko, and Im Seowon. Their unique voices aim to highlight each member’s individual charm while maintaining a catchy and cohesive sound.

Beyond the Music: Japan-Based Vlogs and Content

This project goes beyond just releasing a single. UNIS traveled to Tokyo and Osaka to film video content with noa, including a vlog series titled ‘UNIS Days’. By combining music and multimedia content, the project seeks to deepen its global reach and connect more intimately with international fans.

Release Information

UNIS and noa’s collaboration single ‘Shaking My Head’ will be available on all online music platforms starting July 9 at noon.
