KickFlip Embarks on a Heart-Racing Ride Through First Love
Rookie K-pop group KickFlip is back with a burst of youthful energy. On June 22, the five-member boy group released their third mini-album “My First Flip”, headlined by the title track “My First Love Song.” The music video, now live, is already tugging at heartstrings with its sweet homage to that unforgettable first crush.
A Skater-Boy Fantasy Meets K-pop
In the music video, the KickFlip members tear through baseball fields and skate parks, channeling carefree vibes and buzzy teenage charm. Whether they’re racing across tracks or showing off skateboard tricks, the boys radiate a sense of freedom that feels straight out of a coming-of-age film. The playful chemistry between members adds to the appeal—think The Sandlot meets High School Musical, with a K-pop twist.
“My First Love Song”: A Nostalgic Bop
The title track isn’t just catchy—it’s personal. Maknae (Korean for “youngest member”) Donghyun directly took part in writing and composing the song. The result? A sincere take on the giddy, awkward, heart-fluttering moments of first love, delivered through a fresh K-pop lens. “We wanted to capture that universal feeling of your heart skipping a beat,” said Donghyun. Mission accomplished.
Fan-First Promotions and International Buzz
Leading up to their comeback, KickFlip rolled out plenty of pre-release content to heat up anticipation: teaser videos, concept photos, and even a preview of another track, “Band-Aid.” On June 18, they held an intimate listening party in Seoul’s Gangnam district, where lucky fans—nicknamed WeFlip—got a sneak peek at the album and exclusive memories with the group.
The official comeback schedule is just as packed. The mini-album “My First Flip” and the “My First Love Song” MV dropped at 6 PM KST, followed by a comeback show on Mnet M2 at 7 PM and a special live showcase at 8 PM.
What’s Flipping Next?
With fan buzz growing internationally, KickFlip is already being recognized for their musical chops and stage presence. From scoring production credits to crafting powerful visuals, the group is proving they’re more than just skateboard aesthetics—they’ve got K-pop substance to back it all up.
Will “My First Love Song” become the sleeper hit of summer 2024? If the early fan reactions are any sign, it’s already spinning on repeat in playlists around the globe.
