Miyeon’s Big Leap Into Songwriting
(G)I-DLE’s Miyeon is soaring to new heights—literally and musically—with the release of her first self-composed digital single, ‘Sky Walking’, on June 28 at 6 PM KST. Stepping into the role of a singer-songwriter, Miyeon unveils a more mature artistic side that has fans buzzing.
A Macau Dreamscape
Alongside the digital single, Miyeon released a special clip filmed in Macau. Think postcard-perfect streets, sweeping rooftop views, and Miyeon’s radiant visuals. Set against the scenic day-to-night backdrop of the city, the music video captures a breezy, almost cinematic feel that perfectly matches the song’s hopeful tone.
“A Gift for Neverland”
In a statement through CUBE Entertainment, Miyeon shared, “After first performing ‘Sky Walking’ at our concert, I waited eagerly for its release day. It’s my first self-written song that I shared with Neverland (our fandom), so it means a lot to me. I hope it feels like a happy gift.” She added, “Thank you, Neverland, for all the love—I’ll keep creating better music to repay you.”
A Retro-Fresh Sound
‘Sky Walking’ blends a punchy bassline and drums with ‘80s-inspired guitar and synth. The result? A mix of dreamy and upbeat alternative pop. Miyeon’s clear, refreshing vocals glide over the track, delivering lyrics filled with optimism and a sense of freedom.
From Stage Debut to Online Release
For longtime fans, the song might spark memories of its stage premiere during the ‘2024 (G)I-DLE World Tour [iDOL]’ stop in Seoul last August. Its live debut instantly resonated with audiences—so much so, it built momentum all the way to this official release.
Keeping Busy on Screen Too
Busy as ever, Miyeon isn’t just singing and composing. She’s also the MC for SBS’s global boy group audition show B:MY BOYZ, proving that her talents extend well beyond the studio mic.
