SEVENTEEN Hits 750,000 in Sales with Japanese Single

[CBC News] K-pop sensation SEVENTEEN continues to make waves in Japan. Their 4th Japanese single, Shohikigen (消費期限), has achieved triple platinum status from the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ)—a first for the group’s singles.

A Four-Month Surge from Double to Triple Platinum

According to the RIAJ, Shohikigen surpassed 750,000 shipments by March, officially earning the prestigious triple platinum certification. Remarkably, this comes just four months after it reached double platinum status back in November 2023. In Japan, triple platinum is awarded to records that exceed 750,000 cumulative shipments.

Chart-Topping Success from Day One

Upon release, Shohikigen soared to No.1 on Oricon’s Daily Single Chart and continued its momentum, also topping the Weekly Single and Weekly Combined Single charts. The song has since made repeat appearances at the top of the Daily chart, attesting to SEVENTEEN’s enduring popularity in Japan.

Fifth Album to Achieve Triple Platinum

With Shohikigen, SEVENTEEN now holds five albums that have achieved triple platinum status or higher. The RIAJ categorizes certifications as Gold (100,000 units), Platinum (250,000), Double Platinum (500,000), and Triple Platinum (750,000+).

Upcoming Fan Events in Japan

Riding their recent success, SEVENTEEN is set to meet Japanese fans face-to-face. The group will hold their ‘SEVENTEEN 2025 JAPAN FAN MEETING ‘HOLIDAY’’ at Kyocera Dome Osaka on April 24 and 26–27, followed by shows at Saitama Super Arena on May 10–11.

K-pop’s Growing Footprint in Japan

Having recently headlined Latin America’s largest music festival, Tecate Pa’l Norte 2025, SEVENTEEN is carrying that global momentum into their Japanese activities. Their success is a testament to K-pop’s expanding influence and the group’s strong connection with international fans.

Beyond impressive sales figures, Shohikigen‘s performance highlights how SEVENTEEN is not just topping charts but also building meaningful bonds with Japanese fans—setting the stage for continued success in the global arena.
