Woozi Begins Active Duty Military Service

SEVENTEEN’s Woozi officially begins his military service today, September 15, as an active-duty soldier in the South Korean army. The announcement was initially made by Pledis Entertainment earlier this summer, confirming that both Woozi and fellow member Hoshi would enlist in September.

Hoshi Follows Tomorrow

Hoshi is set to enlist tomorrow (September 16), also as an active-duty soldier. With Woozi’s enlistment, he becomes the third SEVENTEEN member to start military service, following Jeonghan (September 2023) and Wonwoo (April 2024).

Final Moments with CARATs Before Enlistment

Before his enlistment, Woozi wrapped up a wave of fan-focused activities, including the “HOSHI X WOOZI FAN CONCERT [WARNING]”, video call events celebrating their fifth album HAPPY BURSTDAY, and fan signings. These events served as the final official schedules before his hiatus from public appearances.

“Though I won’t be present during upcoming activities, I promise to stay connected through content we’ve prepared in advance,” Woozi shared through Pledis, addressing fans affectionately known as CARATs.

Woozi’s Role in SEVENTEEN

As the leader of SEVENTEEN’s Vocal Team, Woozi has been instrumental in shaping the group’s signature sound. He’s also known for his songwriting talents and dynamic stage presence. Earlier this year, he and Hoshi debuted as a special unit and released the single “BEAM” in March.

Their fan concert series drew over 100,000 CARATs worldwide, a testament to the pair’s popularity and influence.

More Goodbyes Ahead

As more male idols reach enlistment age, SEVENTEEN fans are bracing for a temporary slowdown in full-group activities. Still, CARATs can look forward to pre-recorded content and solo activities from remaining members.

Until then, it’s “see you later” to Woozi—and here’s hoping time flies until his return!
