Solar Brings the Heat to Chongqing
On July 23rd, Solar of K-pop powerhouse MAMAMOO brought her sparkle to southwestern China, holding her very first solo fan meeting in Chongqing. Titled “Floating Free: 此时心动”—a poetic phrase that translates to “Heart Fluttering at This Moment”—the event marked a heartfelt cross-cultural milestone.
Heartfelt Connections and Chinese Surprises
The 90-minute fan meeting wasn’t your typical star-stares-and-waves affair. Solar fully dove into the experience, engaging fans in Chinese, delivering jokes with charm, and even taking a tailor-made Chinese language test prepared just for the event.
Yes, you read that right—Solar took a Chinese test, laughed through tricky questions, and still managed to melt the room with her wit.
Fans Gave the Love Right Back
Chinese fans came prepped. From sentimental video tributes to a symbolic origami crane gift event, they pulled the emotional stops. Solar’s reaction? Just as touching. “This is my first time holding a fan meeting in Chongqing,” she said. “I’m so thankful to every Yongsoon (what MAMAMOO fans affectionately call themselves) who came. Today was truly unforgettable. I’ll work hard so we can meet more often.”
Global Ambitions Keep Floating
The event follows the release of Solar’s Mandarin single “Floating Free” in June, which climbed local music charts and signaled her rising popularity in the Chinese market. And she’s not slowing down—Solar will return to Seoul this October for her third solo concert, titled “Solaris,” running October 11–12.
If the Chongqing vibes are any preview, her Seoul stage is bound to be fire.
