A New Chapter with a Cinematic Twist
On August 22, global K-pop queen TWICE stunned fans by releasing a cinematic teaser video for their upcoming Japanese album ‘ENEMY’, set to drop on August 27. Shared via their official Japanese social media channels, the trailer goes beyond flashy visuals—it’s a deeply reflective portrayal of the group’s inner world.
From Spotlight to Shadows
The video opens with a contrast between triumphant narration about TWICE’s global reign and scenes of the members in somber, silent moments. We see the glamorous idols stepping away from the stage and into a more vulnerable light—wrestling with pressure, internal chaos, and the desire for perfection. It’s poetry in slow motion, laced with melancholic monologues.
Jihyo Runs, Nayeon Meets Our Gaze
As the monologue unfolds, leader Jihyo breaks into a symbolic run toward something unseen, while the soft echo of her steps draws the other members’ attention. Then comes a goosebumps-inducing finale: Nayeon stares directly into the camera and utters just one word—“I am”—before the screen fades to black. If trailers could win Oscars, this one would be in the running.
‘ENEMY’: A Return One Year In The Making
This album marks TWICE’s first full-length Japanese release in about a year, following up their fifth Japanese album ‘DIVE’ in 2023. Fresh off the July 11 global release of their fourth full Korean album ‘THIS IS FOR’, TWICE shows no signs of slowing down as they look to dominate Japan next.
Taking ‘THIS IS FOR’ Worldwide
Their new world tour, appropriately named <THIS IS FOR>, is also heating up. Kicking off in Incheon in July with two sold-out dates, the tour continues through Osaka (July 26–27), Aichi (Aug 23–24), Fukuoka (Aug 30–31), Tokyo (Sept 16–17), Macao (Sept 27–28), and beyond. TWICE fans around the globe will witness large venues with full 360-degree staging, pushing the envelope on concert production.
From Sydney to Singapore, TWICE is proving once again: they’re not just performers—they’re storytellers, and 2024 is shaping up to be their most cinematic year yet.
