TWS Makes a Splash in Japan with Chart-Topping Debut
Fast-rising K-pop boy group TWS kicked off their Japanese debut with a bang—literally. Their first Japanese single ‘Nice to see you again’ not only received a warm welcome but soared to the top of the Oricon Daily Singles Chart on its release day, July 1.
According to Oricon’s latest chart announced on July 2, the single sold 119,617 copies on day one, securing the No.1 spot and marking a successful start to their activities in Japan. The group, consisting of Shin Yu, Dohun, Youngjae, Hanjin, Jihoon, and Kyungmin, received tremendous support from local fans, continuing their trademark “refreshing charm” streak.
A Vibrant Showcase to Match the Summer Energy
On the same day, TWS held their debut showcase in Tokyo, performing all the tracks from their first Japanese single. The event featured their title song ‘Nice to see you again’, ‘BLOOM (feat. Ayumu Imazu)’, and a Japanese version of their Korean debut track ‘Plot Twist’.
The title track’s performance stole the show, radiating youthful energy with choreography reminiscent of a summer night festival—including hand gestures mimicking fireworks and lantern releases. True to its name, the song portrays the excitement and awkwardness of reuniting after a long time, something both fans and members seemed to feel deeply.
“Debuting in Japan is a brand-new beginning for us,” the group shared in Japanese. “We’re so happy to start this journey with you. We hope to share our charm with many and build unforgettable memories with our fans, 42.”
Overwhelming Support from Fans and Media
The showcase drew over 750 lucky fans who won advance tickets, alongside a strong presence from Japanese media and broadcasting platforms. Locals praised the group’s fluent Japanese and expressed astonishment at their natural pronunciation. The buzz proves TWS is already making a strong impression in the competitive J-pop market.
TV Appearances Lined Up
TWS is scheduled to appear on major Japanese programs, including Nihon TV’s morning variety show ‘Dayday.’ on July 3, and ‘THE MUSIC DAY 2025’ on July 5, where they will perform their infectious debut track once again. Looks like Japan just can’t get enough of TWS!
‘Nice to see you again’ captures the sparkling feeling of summer memories, a perfect complement to TWS’s light and lively concept. With a chart-topping start, expect this group to gain more fans both in Japan and beyond.
