UNIS Drops Second Mini-Album ‘SWICY’ — A Perfect Mix of Sweet and Spicy
CBC News – Rising K-pop girl group UNIS is starting off 2025 with a bang by releasing their second mini-album ‘SWICY’ on January 15 at 6 p.m. KST through major music platforms.
Consisting of members Jin Hyunju, Nana, Jellydanka, Kotoko, Bang Yunha, Elysia, Oh Yoonah, and Lim Seowon, UNIS is embracing a fresh musical concept aimed at highlighting the playful and bold energy of Gen Z fans worldwide.
‘SWICY’: Gen Z’s Flavor of the Year
The album title ‘SWICY’ is a creative blend of “sweet” and “spicy”—a term that’s gaining popularity among Gen Z to describe contrasting yet harmonious emotions. Following their 2024 debut with the single album ‘CURIOUS’, this new release marks their first comeback of 2025.
The album includes five tracks: title track ‘SWICY‘, followed by ‘From the Seed Called ‘What Are You Doing?’‘, ‘DDANG!‘, ‘Good Feeling‘, and ‘Spring Rain‘. Each track demonstrates a different ‘sweet & spicy’ charm from the members, adding variety and flavor to the album.
A Bright New Look to Match Their Youthful Sound
With a cheerful school-uniform-inspired concept and catchy, upbeat melodies, the visuals and songs echo the vibrant spirit of youth. Compared to their previous tracks like ‘SUPERWOMAN’, which showcased Gen Z’s quirky side, and ‘You’re the Only One Who Doesn’t Know’, revealing a confident attitude, ‘SWICY’ leans into an effortlessly endearing charm.
“We wanted to show something that feels very natural for our age,” UNIS shared in a behind-the-scenes video, referring to their latest concept. “It’s bright, sweet, and spicy—just like us!”
Exciting Promotions and First-Ever Showcase
To celebrate the release, UNIS will also hold a special fan showcase at 8 p.m. KST on the same day, where they’ll perform tracks from the new album live for the first time.
With their signature mix of visual appeal and genre-fluid music, UNIS is set to make even bigger waves in 2025.
A Sweet Start to a Spicy New Year
UNIS’s latest comeback is more than just a musical release—it’s a statement of youthful zest and redefined K-pop storytelling. As the group continues to grow alongside their Gen Z fanbase, all signs point to a bright year ahead.
