All Eyes on Blue: XG Joins McDonald’s Annual Charity Campaign
Get ready to see blue everywhere—because XG is going full throttle for charity. The global girl group has been named the official special supporter for McDonald’s Japan’s “Blue Mac Day”, a nationwide initiative supporting children facing serious illnesses and their families. Taking place on October 19, this heartwarming campaign turns the fast-food experience into a meaningful movement—with limited-edition meals and digital events sprinkled in for good measure.
Introducing the Blue Galaxy Set
Starting October 1 through October 31, fans can order XG’s curated “Blue Galaxy Set” via mobile order or McDelivery. Designed by trio units—called “kemi,” a fandom shorthand for chemistry between members—each set reflects the girls’ favorite McDonald’s items. And yes, you can opt for a version that includes a charity donation. Or not—flexibility is part of the Happy Meal, after all.
As XG’s Juria explained, “We chose menu items that you can enjoy and share with your family or friends. It’s all about warmth and connection.” The sets are a tasty way to support Japan’s Ronald McDonald House Charities, which provides free lodging for families of hospitalized children.
Live from the Galaxy: #BlueRealTimeMacParty
Before the big day, fans can join the group for a virtual hangout on October 15 during the special livestream event, “#BlueRealTimeMacParty.” If the name sounds familiar, that’s because it riffs off their past #RealTimeMacParty from earlier this year—which already melted hearts across the K-popverse.
This time, it’s a full-on space fantasy. XG members will chow down on their Blue Galaxy Sets while introducing their favorite quirky alien avatars, sharing behind-the-scenes stories, and even unveiling a heartfelt video from their visit to a Ronald McDonald House. Expect a flurry of digital hearts from fans via the “Tap The Blue Heart” feature. Extra lucky fans might even have their alien avatar chosen as a virtual extra inside the fictional McDonald’s “Galaxy Branch.”
Inside XG’s Mission of Love
For XG, this isn’t just another brand collab. “To be able to support children who are facing illness and their families is something we’re incredibly proud of,” said member Chisa. “We hope our art and music bring even a small smile to their faces.”
Leader Jurin added, “We want everyone involved—kids, families, volunteers—to feel that they’re not alone. Love connects us all.” And in true XG fashion, the group channeled that love through creative menus, wild styling (hello, galactic blue outfits), and joyful energy behind the scenes—“We joked around during filming,” said Harvey, “and it just hit me—we really do love each other.”
Spreading Awareness, One McFlurry at a Time
Now in its 9th year overall and 4th as “Blue Mac Day,” McDonald’s Japan’s charity campaign paints stores blue with balloons, themed drink cups, and takeout bags. A portion of sales, including those from Happy Meals and Blue Galaxy Sets with donation options, goes directly to support local RMH chapters via the DMHC foundation.
It’s food with a purpose, served up with pop star power. As Cocona beautifully summed it up, “We discovered how amazing Ronald McDonald House is firsthand. If we can help more people learn about it through this campaign, that’s enough for us.”
Final Bite
Whether you’re an ALPHAZ (XG’s fandom) or just love a good McDonald’s moment, now’s the time to eat with heart. Mark your calendar for the livestream, grab a Blue Galaxy Set, and remember: your meal can make a difference.
