Young Posse Goes Punk-Jazz-Hip-Hop with ‘FREESTYLE’ Comeback

Rising K-pop girl group Young Posse returns with their boldest concept yet—a genre-bending EP that redefines 'growing pains' on their own colorful terms.

Young Posse Is Back—and Louder Than Ever

On June 14, rookie girl group Young Posse (members: Jung Sunhye, Wi Yeonjeong, Jianna, Doeun, Han Jieun) held a Media Mini Festival (MMF) in Seoul’s Sinchon YES24 Muv Hall to celebrate their fourth EP, ‘Growing Pain pt.1 : FREE’. Punchy title, punchier sound—they’re making a comeback just five months after their special album ‘COLD.’

What’s the Vibe? Think Audacity Meets Autobiography

If the name didn’t clue you in, ‘Growing Pain pt.1 : FREE’ unpacks the chaos of growing up in a judgmental world—served with swagger, angst, and a whole lot of creative fire. According to the group, the album stems from the question, “So who are you, really?”

Through seven genre-hopping tracks, the girls explore that question in their signature way: bold, witty, and a little rebellious. It’s a coming-of-age arc set to a multi-genre soundtrack.

‘FREESTYLE’: A Sonic Middle Finger with Jazz Hands

The title track ‘FREESTYLE’ is the heart of the rebellion. Built on a punk hip-hop base, it freely blends elements of jazz, metal, and classic hip-hop, crashing through genre lines like a Gen Z wrecking ball. The lyrics? An artistic manifesto.

“We don’t follow your rules—we ride our vibe,” the group seems to shout with every beat. Simply put? This is Young Posse’s no-filter era.

A K-pop Curveball Worth the Buzz

Labeling themselves under the aesthetic of ‘hip-crush’—a mix of hip-hop edge with girl-crush charm—Young Posse isn’t just back. They’re here to shake things up. If ‘growing pains’ feel like this, sign us up.

‘Growing Pain pt.1 : FREE’ is available now on streaming platforms worldwide.
