Yuqi’s ‘M.O.’ Hits No. 1 on First Music Show

If you blinked, you might’ve missed it—(G)I-DLE’s Yuqi just made solo history. On September 24, she snagged her first-ever music show trophy as a solo artist on Show Champion, thanks to the title track “M.O.” from her breakthrough first single album Motivation.

A Fan-Powered Victory

Although her official promotions wrapped up before the episode aired, Yuqi wasn’t about to let distance dull her joy. In a thankful video message, she shared, “This is a win made possible entirely by my fans. Even though it was a short week of promotions, I’m so happy and grateful.”

She continued, “This award inspires me to become an even better artist.” Consider us motivated too, queen.

Dominating Charts in Korea and China

Even before the trophy, Yuqi’s numbers were speaking volumes. “M.O.” topped Tencent Music’s Korea chart and Korea’s own Bugs! real-time chart. Meanwhile, Motivation soared to the top of QQ Music and Kugou Music’s daily digital album bestseller rankings—both major Chinese music platforms.

That’s not all: with over 410,000 copies sold in its first week, Motivation ruled HANTEO’s weekly album chart in its third week of September. Basically, every chart Yuqi could dominate—she did.

‘Motivation’ Proves Her Artistic Grit

Released on September 16, Yuqi’s solo debut album Motivation includes three tracks: “M.O.,” “It Hurt,” and a Mandarin version of “It Hurt.” Impressively, she wrote and composed every song herself, showing off not just her vocals but her artistic depth across genres.

Global Fan Love with a Pop-Up Twist

To top off her solo debut, Yuqi launched a pop-up event titled YUQI 1st Single [Motivation] POP-UP, giving international fans a chance to celebrate alongside her. Because what’s better than vinyl and selfies with your bias?

What’s Next for Yuqi?

With chart-topping hits, a music show crown, and fans cheering her every move, Yuqi’s solo era is off to a roaring start. Will she continue this record-breaking streak? Or even surprise us with a tour? One thing’s for sure—her motivation is infectious.
