What’s Going On With JULIE?

JULIE of rookie girl group KISS OF LIFE has found herself at the center of a storm—one mixing dating rumors, leaked surveillance footage, and a whole lot of speculation. The controversy kicked off when a video surfaced online showing a young man and woman on what looked like a karaoke date. Some netizens claimed the duo were VERIVERY’s Kangmin and JULIE.

Agency Response: Legal Action Locked and Loaded

On May 29, S2 Entertainment, JULIE’s agency, didn’t hold back. In an official statement, they clarified: “We are aware of the illegally leaked video circulating online. While we’ve previously commented, we feel the need to reiterate our position due to the ongoing spread of baseless rumors about our artist.”

The company emphasized that these unsourced allegations are damaging JULIE’s honor and personal rights, and that things have reached a line that “can no longer be ignored.” They’re working with legal counsel to collect evidence and prepare formal action against defamation, malicious rumors, and human rights violations.

And if you think they’ll settle privately? Think again. S2 firmly stated there would be “no leniency or settlement” as the matter proceeds legally. They also warned that not only the initial footage leak but potential secondary damages—like altered or redistributed videos—will also be pursued in court.

What About Kangmin?

Meanwhile, Kangmin’s side wasted no time shutting things down. Jellyfish Entertainment, the agency behind VERIVERY, labeled the rumor as “completely false and malicious,” stressing the harm it was causing the artist’s reputation.

As for JULIE, her agency opted for privacy, simply noting that it was a personal matter they could not comment on.

The Broader Backlash: When Gossip Crosses the Line

This isn’t the first time idols have been targeted by blurry footage and wild online theories. But this case has sparked a wider debate online about fan behavior, privacy, and the dangerous speed of viral misinformation—especially when it involves minors or rookie idols still finding their footing.

It also brings to mind how sasaeng (obsessive fans who stalk idols) invasions of privacy often hide in plain sight, such as hidden camera clips or manipulated content.

What’s Next?

It’s clear both agencies are drawing hard boundaries this time. Whether the legal moves will slow the rumor mill remains to be seen, but one thing’s certain: both K-pop stars want out of this tabloid tornado ASAP.

Are fans finally learning where the line is—or is this just another viral scandal on a long list yet to come?
