South Korea’s Biggest Laugh Fest Is Back
The Busan International Comedy Festival (BICF) is returning for its 13th year, promising ten full days of non-stop laughter from August 29 to September 7. Held in the vibrant beach district of Haeundae in Busan, the festival is Asia’s first—and still largest—international comedy event.
Star-Studded Lineup on Display
Comedians Byun Gisoo, Kim Taewon, Song Younggil, and rapper Tak from Baechigi gave a sneak peek of what’s to come at a press conference held on July 1 at Stanford Hotel Seoul. They’re part of the cast for the returning crowd-favorite segment, Byun Gisoo’s Beach Show.
“We’re back with even more wild energy,” said Byun Gisoo, hinting at a performance that blends sketch comedy, banter, and summer vibes.
Global Meets Local in Comedy
Korea’s top gag stars like Kim Junho, Ahn Youngmi, and seasoned entertainer Lee Hongryeol will share the stage with rising content creators and international acts, making this year’s BICF more diverse than ever. The festival opens with a grand ceremony at BEXCO Auditorium on August 29.
“It’s not just about the laughs—it’s about connecting cultures through comedy,” shared Kim Junho, executive chairman of the event.
Why You Should Care
Comedy may not be as globally exported as K-pop or K-dramas yet, but BICF is changing that. With over a decade of growth, it’s becoming South Korea’s loudest laugh track on the world stage.
So whether you’re a diehard K-variety fan, a comedy connoisseur, or just someone who needs a break from life’s seriousness—Busan might just be the happiest place in Korea this summer.
